A Hidden Gem Secret While Staging Your Home to Sell - HOUSE PLANTS! header image.

The new rave is all things earthy, not just your paint colors.  Real estate experts are stating that houseplant staging is a not just a secret additional gem to staging, but actually this little investment could lead to increasing the desire for your home at a profitable price!

The younger Millennial generation now entering the age where they are financially stable to purchase a home are into their health and wellness as a whole more so than that of past generations.  This means they care about how an environment they live in makes them feel emotionally and therapeutically, and if it is physically healthy for them.  Having a buyer’s dream could be a home that has an organic feel close to nature and this means that your house staging should include house plants.  Regardless of age, plants make a space more inviting to all ages psychologically than a space without them.  Plants spark the emotion of peace and comfort which helps a home buyer feel at ease and more likely able to picture themselves in the home.  This trend has also integrated into interior design companies as an essential element of home decor.

A real life example we read about in Homes and Gardens was a home sold that had 45 offers! Buyers stated a feature they loved about the home was all the plants in the yard and inside the home.  The 1,389 square foot home sold for more money per square foot than any other home the agent saw in the calendar year!  After reading what we looked into, you might think now that house plants are not only just for staging your home to sell, but purchasing some for your own home you live in for your own well being!  Rather than a burden to care for, see them as life giving to the air you breathe and caring for them can bring peace to the soul, just as it does in gardening.
In the past few years there has been a huge increase in the purchasing of house plants that are cute succulents in little pots, but also the purchase of specific house plants that function as natural air purifiers.

When looking for house plants that actually purify the air, ask your local greenhouse for the following:

Aloe Vera - releases oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide and benzene from chemical cleaners.  Also can be used medicinally for burns.

Peace Lily - removes the air of most volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene. (Note: poisonous so keep out of reach of pets and small children)

Bamboo Palm - releases oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide.

Lavendar - calms nerves, relaxes brain to help you breathe slowly and with ease.

Spider Plant - one of the best at reducing formaldehyde in the air.

Gerbera Daisy - cleans VOCs out like the peace lily.

Chrysanthemum or Mums - removes the VOCs as well, plus removes ammonia from the air.

Warneckei or Draceana - can remove many harmful toxins from the air while adding oxygen.

Golden Pothos - removes formaldehyde. (Note: Great for garages because it can thrive in the dark and car exhaust has a high content of formaldehyde.

English Ivy - removes mold spores, formaldehyde, and fecal matter from the air so it a great plant for bathrooms. (Note: poisonous so keep out of reach of pets and small children)

Chinese Evergreen - removes a vast array of toxins from the air.

Elephant Ear - removes formaldehyde. (note poisonous so keep out of reach as well for pets and small children)
